About the Show
Meet Akwid – brothers Sergio and Francisco Gómez – the hottest West coast urban band! As reggaetón was hitting the mainstream in the East coast, Akwid was introducing banda/hip-hop in the West to meet the cultural needs of second-generation Mexican-Americans who craved Mexican music, while at the same time loved American music, hip-hop in particular. Now Akwid is back with a new studio album titled "Clasificado R," which has already produced two hit singles: "California" and "Loco." Now back to the basics, Akwid is gearing up to reclaim the banda/hip-hop throne! "Clasificado R" is available at www.walmart.com or any of our stores nationwide. Get it August 24th! -The Crew at Walmart Acceso Total About the album: "There are 15 songs on this album, and if I was to pick a favorite from it, I'd say I like all of them. I'm not being biased; they're all good!" On not releasing the album sooner: "The reason there was a huge gap between our previous album and "Clasificado R" was due to the fact that we were actually recreating, revamping what we originally had. Our sound…was already too oversaturated in the marketplace, and we had to regroup and come up with some new stuff…" Surprises on the album: "The very first track on this album is a classic song, originally done by Slick Rick, "Children Story." We took that and updated it. It's still hip-hop but with brass instruments…" On staying grounded: "We've never stopped campaigning; it's never felt like a job to us…We are who we are onstage and offstage, you kind of forget that you're constantly working and promoting whether you want to or not." Message for fans: "They won't be disappointed. And also, 'thank you for waiting.' There was a lot of anticipation and the date was moved, probably five or six times, so now that when they hear the material…they'll know that it wasn't something we just put out there…"
