About The Artist
The Set List
Sometimes history happens during a Soundcheck. Our live Burbank taping with ‘High School Musical’ star Ashley Tisdale went down during the tragic news of superstar Michael Jackson’s death. But, as they say, the show must go on. Pop’s new princess performed a sizzling set that would have made the "King of Pop" proud. Check out our interview and performance with Ashley - and go pick up a copy of her new record, ‘Guilty Pleasure’ online and in Walmart stores nationwide.

On Writing And Junk Food:
“The writing process was fun. I got to work with a lot of amazing people like Kara DioGuardi, the judge from ‘American Idol.’ I did eight months of just being in the recording studio. I have to have a lot of junk food around when I’m writing; it keeps my energy up. It keeps my brain going.”
On Her Guilty Pleasure:
“I’m very proud of this album. The first album was me getting to learn about everything, about the process of recording, about getting to know myself as an artist. On this one I knew exactly what I wanted.”
On Break Ups:
“There are a lot of break up songs on the album. They come from personal experience. It was kind of weird… like art was imitating life. A lot of the songs are from past experiences with relationships. ‘It’s Alright, It’s OK’ is one of those big anthem songs that makes you feel so much better. It’s a strong song. The whole album has a sense of survival, which is something I’m really attracted to because I’m a strong person.”
On Surviving Rejection:
“The business is 90 percent rejection; you’re not going to get everything that you want. I’ve definitely been in that place before. Sometimes you feel that the easy way is just to quit and give up. But if you give up... you’ll never get to where you want to go. Look where I am today. Anything is possible.”

Masquerade
Opening her set with a catchy new track (and rumored second single) from ‘Guilty Pleasure,’ Ashley claims the Soundcheck stage. The 24 year-old singer has said she wanted ‘Guilty Pleasure’ to summon an edgier, more mature sound. With its retro pop feel and fun chorus, ‘Masquerade’ also poses a serious relationship question: “Is this love we’re imitating?”
Tell Me Lies
“My biggest fear is crying oceans of tears. I would rather you not be so sincere.” It’s easy to forget that this is Ashley Tisdale demanding such complexities from a significant other, but the singer delivers a convincingly adult performance. ‘Tell Me Lies’ is a bold, darker-than-typical pop tune about refusing to believe the truth. An album highlight.
Hot Mess
Full of attitude and spunk, ‘Hot Mess’ is truly a guilty pleasure. Written by Warren “Oak” Felder and Heather Bright, ‘Hot Mess’ is a surefire single – and our favorite song of Ashley’s set. Plus, the girl can really rock. Promises Ashley: “I’m a mess when it comes to you. I’ve got no inhibitions whatsoever... it’s true. Cupid got me right between my eyes. I’m such a hot mess with you!”
Hair
Despite her coming of age recording, Ashley Tisdale is sometimes just a kid at heart. On songs like ‘Hair,’ she reminds us of her trademark goofiness. ‘Hair’ is a super playful homage to the singer’s locks. Sings Ashley: “My bangs are laughable… I don’t mind ‘cause I think it’s kinda super cool.”
What If
Ashley shares a songwriting credit on this affecting ballad from 'Guilty Pleasure.' Showing her sensitive side, Ashley tells a tale of a girl racked with relationship insecurities and neediness. Sings Ashley: “What if I need you baby? Would you even try to save me?”
It’s Alright, It’s OK
Ashley closes her Soundcheck set with the first single from her new album, ‘Guilty Pleasure.’ ‘It’s Alright, It’s OK’ is perfect pop that defies listeners to stop tapping their toes. It’s also an uplifting break-up anthem that sends a message of empowerment to her young fans. Sings Ashley: “I won’t regret. I will find my way.”
