-The Crew at Walmart Soundcheck

On Playing On:
“It’s probably my most versatile record to date. The title track ‘Play On’ is a song about how no matter what happens in life, you have to keep playing the game. You have to keep playing your music, you have to keep doing what you do. Everything will be OK if you play on…”

On Cowboy Buzz:
“I’m really excited about this album. If the first single is any indication, people seem to be really digging it. We played [‘Cowboy Casanova’] last night and people already knew the words. We’ve never played this before… and [the fans] are singing along! I’m excited that they’re excited. I can’t wait to get out there and tour again!”

On Keeping A Perspective:
“All this stuff that’s happened over the past several years, the award shows, record sales, and number ones… I could look at it like, “Oh my gosh! I have to keep this going! What do I do?” Or I could take all those wonderful things and just say, “OK, I’ve been there, I’ve done that. Look at all those wonderful things that have happened to me. Let it all speak for itself.” It the number ones keep coming and the awards keep coming, I will absolutely love that. And if it doesn’t, I still get to do what I love… and that’s more important than anything.”

On Role Models:
“The people that I look up to are people that have had long, successful careers and done everything the right way. They’re not just a flash in the pan. People have the most wonderful things to say about them. I look at people like Reba and Dolly who have had these incredible careers; they can do anything they want to do. They treat people well and people love them. They’ve always expressed their love for their fans. Those are the people who I want to be like someday.”

Cowboy Casanova
The first single from ‘Play On’ is a bold, brassy experiment in country gone wild. It’s cowboy rock! Already a smash hit, ‘Cowboy Casanova’ hits harder ground territory than Carrie’s previous efforts. Sings the Oklahoma native: “He looks like a cool drink of water… but he’s candy - coated misery. He’s the devil in disguise, a snake with blue eyes.”

So Small
Co-written by Carrie herself for her second album, ‘Carnival Ride,’ ‘So Small’ is the song that announced Carrie as a serious country music player. ‘So Small’ starts out as a small ballad but transitions into a power tour de force. Sings Carrie: “And when you figure out… love is all that matters after all. It sure makes everything else seem so small.”

All American Girl
The second single from ‘Carnival Ride’ showcases Carrie’s poppier side, and a vocal that features what Carrie says is the highest note she’s ever hit. Like the note, Carrie hits the ball out of the park in this anthem about the American dream.

Jesus, Take The Wheel
Carrie surprised many people when she chose ‘Jesus, Take The Wheel’ as the lead single from her debut album. A tale of redemption from frustration, ‘Jesus, Take The Wheel’ became a crossover hit, proving to the world that Carrie Underwood is a musician who can cross country barriers.

Before He Cheats
Closing her set with a song the Country Music Association awarded as Single of the Year, Carrie shows us why she’s a superstar. Filled with attitude and spunk, ‘Before He Cheats’ tells the tongue-in-cheek tale of a vengeful woman curing her unfaithful amour. Cautions Carrie: “I might’ve saved a little trouble for the next girl…”

Mama's Song
It's time for a track from Carrie's new album, 'Play On.' 'Mama’s Song' is a heartbreaking ballad seemingly dedicated to Carrie's own mother. Delivering the emotional peak of her Soundcheck set, Carrie sings: "Mama, you taught me do the right thing. So now you have to let your baby fly…"
