Soundcheck is an original performance series created by the Wal-Mart Music team, giving you the opportunity to go behind the scenes and get an in-studio look at some of your favorite artists. Soundcheck plays right here on Walmart.com, or, for the full high definition experience, visit any Walmart store and head to the Electronics department to watch it on the Walmart TV Network.
We'll be adding new performances on a regular basis throughout the year, so please check back regularly at Walmart.com/soundcheck for more information.
We'll have artists from all genres; some old, some new, some huge, some more emerging - but all will be presented in the same intimate studio environment. So be on the lookout!

Once the performances launch, you can play it anytime you want, 24 hours a day. We'll keep all artists up on the site under "The Performances" tab.

On His New Record’s Title:
“It really plays off of me moving from the east coast of Australia to the west coast of the United States. And I just finished a mall tour from New York to L.A. and everywhere in between! It definitely plays off my tour and my move across the world, I guess!”
On His New Record’s Inspiration:
“It was definitely inspired by Justin Timberlake’s style of music as well as Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson. I grew up on the beach in Australia and it’s what I used to listen to at the time. I like to incorporate my life into my music.”
On His First Performance:
“I was just a regular kid going to a regular school; I played guitar and I sung around the house for fun. I performed for the first time on stage with my sister’s friend. We did a Jason Mraz cover, a popular song at the time. I made this Cody Simpson YouTube channel; it just kept racking up views until I was hitting hundreds of thousands!”
On Advice To Young Musicians:
“I think it’s very important to let who you are come out in your music. Keep practicing every day if you don’t think you’re good enough at something. I think posting online is an amazing way to do it - it's obviously how I started! Let it happen naturally and things will work out.”
On Songwriting:
“I usually write [a song] on my guitar because it’s the instrument that I grew up playing. It's something that’s very natural to me.”
On Country Inspiration:
“I grew up listening to country music. I loved Keith Urban and Johnny Cash and I used to cover their songs on the guitar! As I grew up I started exploring and finding other genres of music; I became a big fan of Jack Johnson and Bruno Mars... Chris Brown and Justin Timberlake. I just love to take what I love from different genres and mix it into my own sound.”
• He’s an Aussie. 14 year-old Cody Simpson grew up on Australia’s Gold Coast but recently moved to L.A.
• He wrote his first song at age seven. Cody grew up watching his father play guitar at backyard family barbecues. After receiving his own guitar at the tender age of seven, Cody put pen to paper and wrote his first tune.
• He’s a YouTube sensation. Cody’s YouTube channel has been active since August 2008. He boasts over 80 million views and has more than 300,000 subscribers.
• The title of his new EP chronicles his move from Australia to America. Explains Cody: "It definitely plays off my tour and my move across the world, I guess!”

Dressed to kill in white jeans and a hoodie, Cody Simpson makes his Walmart Soundcheck debut. Not only does this 14 year-old write and perform his own songs, the Aussie can dance! Promises Cody: “It is what it is / And it’s as good as it gets…”
Crazy But True
Screams from the House of Blues audience continue, but Cody isn’t fazed. Launching into ‘Crazy But True’ (from his new EP ‘Coast To Coast’), Cody straps on a guitar to give an almost-acoustic version of a new tune about young love. Sings Cody: “It’s crazy but true / Can’t see myself with nobody but you…”
On My Mind
The first single from ‘Coast To Coast’ is a crowd-pleaser that has the House Of Blues’ audience on their feet. Already a hit, ‘On My Mind’ has an unforgettable chorus and an equally memorable romantic tale. Asks Cody: “What do you see when you close your eyes? / ‘Cuz you are on my mind.”
Angel
“Who wants to be my Angel tonight?!” There's such a resounding response from the audience that Cody decides to bring one lucky fan to the stage! Co-written by Cody for his ‘Coast To Coast’ EP, ‘Angel’ is the singer's dedication to the fans. Sings Cody: “I must be in heaven / ‘Cuz I’m looking at an angel who’s staring back at me...”
Not Just You
‘Not Just You’ (from ‘Coast To Coast’) not only showcases the singer’s ballad skills, it also shines a spotlight on Cody’s ultra-romantic side. Sings Cody: “I’m not giving up / You don’t have to leave / I believe in us / Don’t give up on me.’
All Day
“Are you guys enjoying this?!!” After thanking the Walmart Soundcheck fans for his spectacular House Of Blues set, Cody closes with ‘All Day,’ a song that first appeared on his debut EP, ‘4 U.’ Not surprisingly, the lyrics drive the fans wild!
