On His Best Days:
“’My Best Days’ is a reflection of where I’m at in my life. It’s my personal DNA weaved into the CD and into the songs. I think people are really going to connect on a whole other level with me.”
On Post Idol:
“My life became an open book on American Idol. I’m feel like I’m going to take [the fans] on a deeper journey. The connection’s going to be stronger between my fans and myself.”
On His Uplifting New Single:
“Look at all the good that has come out of something so tragic and so bad. I wanted to say, “Listen, I’m enjoying life again." What almost took me out didn’t take me out. I’m looking forward to life again."
On The Power Of Music:
“Music is a universal language that everyone speaks. Music has formed humanity. Music can make you feel different emotions at different times. I think that’s the power and the connection of music. Whether I write it or not, I connect with the music.”
On His Favorite Song:
“There’s a song on the album called ‘I Will Not Say Goodbye.’ I think it’s going to make an impact to everyone who hears it. It’s an emotional song; it’s not trying to hide anything or give a cookie cutter description of what I felt. It was a song of true emotion and true feeling that I felt. I love it.”
On Performing Vs. Studio:
“I prefer live performing anyday over studio. There’s an energy in a crowd that a studio doesn’t have. When you have people screaming or cheering, it sets the atmosphere for the best things to come out of me!”
On Idol Nerves:
Fans have come up to me and said, “You looked so calm on American Idol!” I said, “Are you kidding me?! I was like a ball of nerves!”
On Music As A Movement:
“I’m a huge fan of Martin Luther King Jr. I’m a huge fan of Abraham Lincoln. People who have endured things and who have gone through and made decisions that most people didn’t agree with. I see my music as more than just entertainment. I see my music as a movement. I feel like music has that power. That’s why those figures stick out so much to me.”
On The Fans:
“I wish somehow I could thank every fan... I can’t. Here’s what I can do. I want my music to make you happy. I want it to make you a better person.”
