This record was really like coming home to country music. I wanted to make a country record that had a lot of kick to it.

On Coming Home:
“Home means a lot of different things to me personally. The last record I made was kind of a bluegrass adventure. This record was really like coming home to country music. I really wanted to make the definitive country album for myself. I felt like it was a good title for the record.”
On Returning To His Roots:
“This album took about a year and a half to write and record. It took awhile. I wanted to make a country record that had a lot of kick to it: a lot of electric guitar, a lot of bass, a lot of kick drum, but also a lot of banjo, a lot of fiddle, a lot of mandolin, dobro. In the end it all came together to be the record I really wanted it to be.”
On Pushing Himself:
“I’ve definitely accomplished way more than I deserved - and way more than I expected. You’re always trying to write better songs. You never stop being a student when it comes to being a songwriter. The best songs out there are still waiting to be written.”

Tip It On Back
Opening his Walmart Soundcheck set with a tune from his new album ‘Home,’ Dierks Bentley delivers a shot of relief for tryin’ times. Sings the Arizona native: “I see main street closing / Miles of 'For Sale' signs / And them fields ain’t growing fast enough to get us by.”
The Woods
One of the most memorable lyrics from the new album (“What happens in the woods stays in the woods”) is a romantic ode to coming home. Sings Dierks: “Kissed the first girl / Skipped school with my friend / Where I went to turn bad times to good.”
Am I The Only One
The first single from ‘Home’ hit the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts and reunited the singer with fellow songwriters Jim Beavers and Jon Randall (Randall produced 'Up On The Ridge'). It’s also a plea to get the party started. Asks the singer: “It’s time to get it on / Am I the only one who wants to have fun tonight?!”
5-1-5-0
Like the rest of the tunes on ‘Home,’ ‘5-1-5-0’ makes a welcome return to the singer’s traditional country roots. Explains Dierks: “I wanted to make a country record that had a lot of kick to it. A lot of electric guitar, a lot of bass, a lot of kick drum, but also a lot of banjo, a lot of fiddle, a lot of mandolin, dobro!”
Home
“I was shocked that ‘Home’ was nominated for ACM Song of the Year. This town has a way of really crushing dreams; it’s a tough town to make it in. It’s just one of those things that you just hoped will happen but you don’t expect it to. I’ve never been more excited about a nomination. Song of the Year! If you’re a songwriter, it’s a big deal.”
