About The Artist

The Set List

Soundcheck San Francisco
The Soundcheck Crew recently traveled to San Francisco's historic Warfield Theatre for a once-in-a-lifetime, behind-the-scenes rehearsal with alternative rockers Fall Out Boy. On the eve of their new world tour, we were given the chance to record the band at a warm-up session for their performance at the Warfield the following night. And with their highly anticipated new album, Infinity on High, dropping soon, this was an incredible opportunity to be a part of the release. We hope you enjoy the footage as much we did filming it.

Fall Out Heroes
We asked singer Pete Wentz and drummer Andy Hurley about their first music memories. "My first musical memory was probably driving to the Jersey Shore in my dad's car, listening to the oldies in the back seat," Andy confesses. Speaking to these guys, you sense a true passion for music that pours out into their live performances. Says Pete: "We all really like playing live. That's really where our band thrives."

Fan Love
Fall Out Boy's loyal following hasn't escaped the band's attention. Explains Pete: "We probably don't have the world's biggest fan base, but our fans are pretty crazy and they've been able to keep us very level-headed. We try to play secret shows and smaller venues, and we had a contest for them to design album covers, to name songs... It's pretty interactive, and the cool thing about this band is it definitely feels bigger than us."

The Van Gogh Connection
Pete tells us that the name for the new album, Infinity On High, comes from "a weird Van Gogh quote". So what's the connection between Fall Out Boy and the Dutch Post-Impressionist? Explains Pete: "At the end of Van Gogh's life, he kind of figured himself out... He ended up with nothing inside of his head, but (he) had figured out all the parts of his life..."

The Closing
As fans gear up for the release of the new disc, Fall Out Boy delivered both a riveting performance and an intriguing taste of what's around the corner. The new record takes the boys to different places, and that's exactly what they aimed for. "We did some songs with Babyface, and we just did a song with Butch Walker..." says Pete with a smile breaking out on his face, "...just to, you know, keep people guessing."

But there's no guessing when it comes to the greatness of the new album. Pick it up. And while you're at it, check out the show. Till next time.

Did You Know?

- Fall Out Boy hail from Wilmette, Illinois.

- Fall Out Boy are: Patrick Stump (guitar, lead vocals), Pete Wentz (bass, vocals, lyricist), Andy Hurley (drums) and Joe Trohman (lead guitar).

- The band employs an unusual dynamic: While Patrick contributes lead vocals, Pete Wentz is considered the unofficial "front man." Wentz is also the band's primary songwriter.

- The name Fall Out Boy derives from the television show The Simpsons. It's actually the name of superhero Radioactive Man's sidekick.

- Speaking of Simpsons ... Pete Wentz once dated Ashlee Simpson.
Dance, Dance
"Dance, Dance," sings Patrick in what sounds like a love song. However, things turn bittersweet fast in this terrific track, the boys' second smash hit from From Under the Cork Tree. Infecting and driving, 'Dance, Dance' will make you want to move - but its lyrics aims to move you in another way. Sings Patrick: "This is the way they'd love me.... If they knew how misery loved me."

A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More "Touch Me"
This melody recalls love in the time of Molly Ringwald. With its twisted, sad lyrics, 'Sixteen Candles' is a poignant and affecting reflection about dating somebody who shines a little brighter. "'Cause you're just the girl all the boys want to dance with. And I'm just the boy who's had too many chances."

This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race
If you haven't heard this awesome track yet, you've been living under a rock. Fall Out Boy's first single from Infinity on High travels in a new direction for the band, and in our opinion, deserves an award for best song title of the year. As Pete burns down the house with a blazing bass, Patrick sings about "prima donnas of the gutters" and "painting your trash gold."

Sugar, We're Going Down
The song that kicked off the band's mega-success, 'Sugar, We're Going Down' is one of Fall Out Boy's biggest hits: a catchy and wistful tune that captures the band's signature sound. Sings Patrick cryptically: "We're always sleeping in, and sleeping for the wrong team..."

Thriller
No, it's not a Michael Jackson cover, but the set's closer, 'Thriller', reflects on their growing fame, hard-won success and online presence: "Crowds are won, lost, and won again... but all hearts beat for the dead heart..." they sing. "I have found the safest place to keep all of our mistakes... every dot-com's refreshing for a journal update..."
