About The Artist

The Set List

It is a little bit raw. It’s not so perfect. It’s not pro-tooled to death. I’ve never wanted my records to sound like everybody else in Nashville.

Just like his new album ‘Night Train,’ Jason Aldean remains a true country original. The singer's new disc is inspired as much by ‘70s rock as it is country music, and it features 15 stellar tracks about the singer’s hometown (Macon, GA), moving to Nashville, and life on the road. Walmart Soundcheck catches up with the Georgia rocker in Hollywood, CA for an exclusive live set. Check it out here -- and go pick up a copy of ‘Night Train’ online and in Walmart stores nationwide!

On Influences:
“The wide range of music that I grew up listening to probably has a lot to do with the way I go about making music. My parents listened to a lot of country music. I loved country music always but I always loved different stuff. I always thought great music was great music; I really didn’t care what genre it came out of.”

On Going With His Gut:
“If I like the song and think it’s cool, I wanna cut it. Whatever happens to it from there on out is kinda outta my hands. All I can do is go and cut songs that I want on my record. It’s never been something that we’ve tried to force and prove a point.”

On ‘My Kinda Party’ Follow-Up Pressure:
“What I hope is people listen to this record and don’t compare it to that album. It’s a completely different thing. This ‘Night Train’ album is an album that we had two years to go out and find songs for, plenty of time to go in the studio. We spent more time making this record than we have any other album. I feel like we have some of the best songs we've ever had on this record.”

Did You Know?

• He’s a singer/songwriter from Georgia. Jason Aldine Williams grew up on the outskirts of Macon, Georgia. He began performing at an early age.

• He broke onto the scene with his 2006 self-titled debut. Jason moved to Nashville in 1998 at age 21 and released his first single, ‘Hicktown,’ in 2005.

• His last album was the top-selling country album of 2011 and the fifth-seller across all genres for the year. 'My Kinda Party' also scored the singer his first two Country Music Association awards, including ‘Album of the Year.’

• He’s back with a highly-anticipated new record called ‘Night Train.’ Jason’s fifth studio album features 15 new tracks, including a collaboration with friends Luke Bryan and Eric Church ('The Only Way I Know'). The album's first single is called 'Take A Little Ride.'

• ‘Night Train’ is in stores now! Pick up a copy of the record online and in Walmart stores nationwide.
Take a Little Ride
“’Take A Little Ride,’ which is the first single from ‘Night Train,’ was the perfect song to kick off this album. Great track, great song for us to play live. It was kind of a shot in the arm for us to have some new music to play. It’s fun for us to play. It was just kind of a no-brainer.”

Night Train
“Let’s go listen to the night train,” sings Jason on the title track to his fifth studio album. Armed with a driving chorus and lyrics about a night of small town romance, ‘Night Train’ wows our Avalon audience – most who are hearing it for the first time.

Fly Over States
The fifth single from ‘My Kinda Party’ laments big city folks who haven’t traveled to America’s heartland. Sings Jason: “They’ve never drove through Indiana / Met the men who plowed that earth.”

Tattoo's On This Town
Main Street, USA gets the Jason Aldean treatment in ‘Tattoos On This Town,’ an album highlight from ‘My Kinda Party.’ Written about moving on from a small town, 'Tattoos' finds the singer in nostalgic mode: "We let the world know we were here / With everything we did / We laid a lot of memories down / like tattoos on this town…”

Dirt Road Anthem
The highest charting single of Jason’s career features an unlikely country “rap solo” – and a chorus that has The Avalon audience singing along. It's also testament to Jason's intuition that the song was ever released. Explains the singer: “You know, a song like ‘Dirt Road Anthem,’ if we put it out and it falls on its face, that’s just what it’s gonna do. It’s out of your hands at that point. If I like the song and think it’s cool, I wanna cut it.”

Wheels Rollin'
“Anybody that’s ever been in a band, or a musician, you have these songs that kind of describe that lifestyle. It describes what it’s like for us on a nightly basis to a tee. People come to the show and they see the glamorous side of it. This is a song that gives people the inside look about what it’s like for us out there a little bit.”
