About The Artist

The Set List

What do you get when you mix three singing brothers, one legendary L.A. art deco space and several hundred screaming girls? Soundcheck finds fan frenzy at a set with the mega-famous Jonas Brothers! We spend an amazing afternoon with the talented trio while celebrating the release of their brand new album, ‘Lines, Vines and Trying Times.’ Check out our live show with JB (including an awesome audience singalong to the band’s just-released single, ‘Paranoid’) - and go pick up a copy of their highly-anticipated new disc, ‘Lines, Vines and Trying Times’ online and in Walmart stores nationwide.

-The Crew at Walmart Soundcheck

On Lines, Vines and Trying Times:
Joe: “‘Lines’ is maybe a lie that something or someone is telling you. ‘Vines’ is something that’s holding you down. And ‘Trying Times’ is something personal… or something that the world is affected by together. It’s a poetic thing that we came up with together.”

On Collaborating With Common:
Kevin: “The collaboration with Common is awesome. It started out with the song we wrote called ‘Don’t Charge Me For The Crime.’ We’ve been a big fan of his work for a long time. We had him come out, and he was just an amazing guy. We’re happy to have him on the record.”

On Musical Influences:
Kevin: “Some of our musical influences are people like Stevie Wonder, Johnny Cash, Prince, Elvis Costello. A lot of different sounds that make up who we are as a band.”
Joe: “Some albums that came out this year that we really loved? I’d say Kings Of Leon…”
Kevin: “This band out of the UK called The Zutons, they’re amazing. We fell in love with their record while we were on tour with Avril Lavigne in Europe.”
Joe: “Coldplay’s new record is really great. Those are just a few.”

On The Jonas Look:
Nick: “We work hand-in-hand with a lady named Michelle Tomaszewski. We’ve been together now for almost three years. We’ve developed the Jonas Brothers ‘look’ together, what we’ve changed, what we’ve added, what we’ve named. We are now all working together to create our own clothing line. We’re all very excited about that!”

On Jonas 2019:
Nick: “In ten years we hope that we’re still doing this, still making music, still performing. We hope that we’re making music for other artists and doing things like that. I think movies are in the works, television shows... Who knows?!”

Did You Know?

• The Jonas Brothers are: Kevin, 21; Joe, 19; and Nick, 16

• Originally, there was just one Jonas Brother. Nick Jonas was the first brother to pursue a solo singing career. After record executives met his two brothers, they decided to abandon his solo career and focus on a brother band.

• They considered calling themselves ‘Sons of Jonas’ before deciding on a simpler band name: Jonas Brothers

• Before finding mega stardom, the brothers opened for a number of high profile acts, including the Backstreet Boys, Jesse McCartney and Kelly Clarkson

• They’ve sung with Stevie. The band impressed many in the music industry with a recent award night performance with the legendary Stevie Wonder.

• Their new album: ‘Lines, Vines and Trying Times’ signals a more mature musical direction for the talented brothers. Pick up a copy online and in Walmart stores nationwide.
SOS
Lights. Camera. Jonas! The most famous Jersey boys in the world make their entrance to loud screams and instantly get the all-girl crowd jumping. Dressed in a black leather jacket and jeans, Joe Jonas takes lead vocal duty on the Nick Jonas-penned track, ‘SOS.’ "Sing it!" commands Nick, and the frenzied fans inside El Rey theater go wild.

POISON IVY
Time for a new track from the band’s highly-anticipated fourth album, ‘Lines, Vines And Trying Times.’ Written by the Jonas Brothers with bass guitarist Greg Garbowsky, ‘Poison Ivy’ signals a harder, rockier sound. It’s a risky musical move that clearly pays off. Singing to a room full of screaming girls, Nick warns: “Everybody needs a little poison ivy…”

LOVE BUG
Ready for a group singalong? With guitar hoisted across his back, Nick coaxes a roomful of girls to a well-known chorus. The second single from the band’s last album, ‘A Little Bit Longer,’ is a romantic tune about the thrill of a new love. Today, the boys dust off an acoustic version to a room full of swooning fans: “Now I’m speechless over the edge. I’m just breathless. I never thought that I’d get hit by this lovebug again.”

PARANOID
The fans put their hands together for ‘Paranoid,’ the catchy first single from the Jonas Brothers’ latest record, ‘Lines, Vines And Trying Times.’ Although the song was released just four days prior to their Soundcheck show, the audience at El Rey knows every single word. Sing the Brothers: “I make the most of all this stress. I try to live without regrets…”

TURN RIGHT
“Kevin Jonas on piano, everybody!” proclaims a proud Nick Jonas. ‘Turn Right’ is a quiet ballad from their brand new disc, ‘Lines, Vines and Trying Times,’ but that doesn’t stop the fans from screaming. As Kevin tinkles the keys masterfully, the Jonas Brothers perform one of the group’s most powerful moments to date.

BURNIN' UP
What better way to end their sizzling Soundcheck set than with their mega hit, ‘Burnin' Up?’ With arms outstretched to an enraptured audience, the Jonas Brothers perform a hit song inspired by the Louisiana heat. After their brief but memorable concert, hundreds of fans pour out of the El Rey theater into the LA heat. The Jonas Brothers have left the building.
