Who makes Kelly weak in the knees? Check out a sampling from Kelly’s question/answer session from a handful of lucky fans:
What’s the inspiration behind the new album?
“The inspiration behind it? Number one: It was the first song we recorded for the album... All I’ve ever wanted to do is record music and tour and have a good time. There’s no deep or profound explanation!”
Do you feel any pressure being a woman in the music industry?
“I think there’s a bit more pressure on women. That only makes you fight for it more. I guess you try to be a good role model. I don’t really feel pressure in general.”
Do you feel any pressure when people are watching your every move?
“I think you get used to it… I grew up in a small town where somebody usually has something to say about everything I do. I guess it’s just on a bigger scale now, but I don’t feel too much pressure.”
What’s your favorite song on the new album?
“I have a lot of favorite songs on the new album. One would be ‘Whyya wannabringmedown.’ It’s fun to sing. Another favorite is ‘If I Can’t Have You.’ It’s a dance track… so you can shake your booty!”
What’s your favorite thing about being in the spotlight?
“I can pay my bills! That is so cool because I didn’t grow up with any money. It’s nice to be able to pay my bills and help out my family and friends and charity. That’s really the only cool thing about being famous. You get to throw your name around certain charities and shine the spotlight on them.”
When was the last time you were star struck?
“I can’t remember the last time. I was very star struck when I met Steven Tyler from Aerosmith. I was extremely star struck when I met Reba McEntire for the first time. Mariah Carey? I think I actually said I might vomit! I get very nervous. I don’t like going up to people.”
What was it like working with Katy Perry?
“It was a lot of fun. I like her songs [though] I didn’t actually get to work with her in the studio. I love her lyrics; I think they’re very quirky and original. These are just two songs that she didn’t use for her album.”
Who are your biggest musical influences?
“I grew up listening to a lot of different styles of music. Everything from pop to country to rap. I sang classical growing up. I’m highly influenced by Annie Lennox, Reba McEntire… Steve Tyler’s a favorite. I love Patty Griffin. She’s a new influence of mine. And Mariah Carey, who’s probably one of my big ones.”

Walk Away
Kelly kicks off her five-song set with a rocking version of the fifth single from her second album, ‘Breakaway.’ As much a testament to Kelly’s vocal prowess, ‘Walk Away’ also delivers a powerful statement about relationship empowerment. Sings Kelly to a room full of impressionable fans: “Are you gonna fight for me? Live and breathe for me? ‘Cause if you don’t… then just leave.”
My Life Would Suck Without You
It’s time for a taste of the hit song on everybody’s lips. Picking up where ‘Since U Been Gone’ left off, ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ is a hard-driving guts and guitar affair. It's also a guilty pleasure about dysfunctional, delirious love. As Kelly instructs her young fans to clap their hands together, the audience is instantly sold. This is pure, perfect pop genius.
Because Of You
Kelly shows us her sensitive side with an acoustic version of the best-selling hit from her second disc, ‘Breakaway.’ As her guitarist strums gently in the background, we’re treated to a reinvention of the singer’s most poignant moment to date. Sings Kelly: "I don't know how to let anyone else in... because of you."
I Do Not Hook Up
“This next song we’re going to do – nobody’s heard yet!” So begins Kelly before breaking out a tantalizing performance of the rumored second single from ‘All I Ever Wanted.’ ‘I Don’t Hook Up’ (co-penned by Katy Perry) is a catchy, courageous anthem that talks about waiting for the right guy. It’s also the set high point. Cautions Kelly: “I feel the distance between us could be over with a snap of your fingers…”
Since U Been Gone
If you haven’t heard this song, you’ve probably been living under a rock. ‘Since You Been Gone’ (also from the artist’s second album, ‘Breakaway’) is a song destined for karaoke land and late night bedroom angst. Today, it’s pulled out as the show-stopping finale. As she rocks out to the Max Martin/Dr. Luke-penned gem, we’re reminded exactly why Kelly Clarkson reigns as the current queen of pop.
