The Set List
Welcome To The Fishbowl’ is about how our culture is changing. Now we know everything about everybody. Everybody’s business is everybody’s business and it’s global.
Country superstar Kenny Chesney sits down with Walmart Soundcheck to discuss his fifteenth studio album, ‘Welcome To The Fishbowl.’ The disc finds the Tennessee-born singer at the top of his game (first single ‘Feel Like A Rock Star’ is already smashing country charts), and he's about to embark on a summer tour with fellow artist (and buddy), Tim McGraw. Check out our exclusive set with Kenny - and go pick up a copy of ‘Welcome To The Fishbowl’ online and in Walmart stores nationwide.

On His New Record:
“There are some very emotional songs on this record. It’s an incredibly authentic record when it comes to me. That’s the thing I’m most proud of.”
On Touring With Tim:
“What can fans expect from me and McGraw going on the road? It’s going to be creative; it’s going to be left of center!”
On His Biggest Goal:
“My next goal as an artist is just to get better. I really hope I haven’t written my best song.”On The Long Run:
“When you treat your career and everything you do like an athlete, you never stay the same. You’re either gonna get worse or you’re gonna get better. I don’t want to get worse. That’s my goal – to get better and keep pushing myself to see where it takes me and my audience. That’s all you can ask for.”

You And Tequila
Kenny kicks off his Walmart Soundcheck with the Grammy-nominated tune from 2010’s ‘Hemingway’s Whiskey,’ a tune he originally performed with musician Grace Potter. Explains Kenny: “It’s a very special moment for me in the show – especially when we’ve got Grace out there. She’s opening for us. I do ‘You And Tequila’ every chance I can get.”
Living In Fast Forward
“My whole life revolves around time and ‘Living Fast Forward’ describes it. I’m constantly doing ten things at once. Part of my insanity is trying to find balance but it’s part of what makes me happy at the same time. If I was still I wouldn’t be able to handle it. ‘Living In Fast Forward’ is a great description of what goes on in my head all the time!”
Come Over
Kenny's new single may become the biggest ballad of his career. Explains the artist: “It’s about two people that know for sure that their relationship is not going to work out, that they’re not really ready to emotionally, mentally, physically go on to something else. What do we all do? We go back to something that is comfortable.”
Feel Like A Rock Star
The highest debuting single of Kenny's career is one that came with an urgent message. Explains Kenny: “The first time I heard it I knew that I was going to record it. It’s like a perfect description of a lot of familiar faces that I see out there in the audience, that I’ve gotten to know over the summer.”
Welcome To The Fishbowl
“’Welcome To The Fishbowl’ is a really serious song written about how our culture is changing. You don’t have to be in the public eye – like me – to feel like you’re living in a fishbowl or feel like you’re on display at the zoo. I came from a town in East Tennessee where everybody knew everybody’s business. It was on a much smaller scale. Now we know everything about everybody. Everybody’s business is everybody’s business and it’s global.”
