About The Artist

The Set List

She’s the star of some of Broadway’s biggest blockbuster musicals, but Laura Bell Bundy’s true heart belongs in the Country. The Tony-nominated singer has a new disc titled ‘Achin’ and Shakin’, and the record introduces the 'Legally Blonde' star as a serious Honky Tonk singer and songwriter. Check out our exclusive interview with Laura Bell Bundy - and go pick up a copy of ‘Achin’ and Shakin’ online and in Walmart stores nationwide.

-The Crew at Walmart Soundcheck

On Her Vision:
“I wanted to provide listeners with music for whatever mood they're in. I like to listen to music depending on whatever mood I’m in. It’s kind of like an old record where you would put the record on one side and listen to six songs, and then you would flip it over. Except you don’t have to get up and flip anything. You can be lazy and just let it run.”

On Split Personalities:
“I feel like I have two different personalities. I have a real kind of crazy, wild, outspoken and energetic, enthusiastic personality. And then I have a side of me that would really just rather be alone, write music or poetry, or read.”

On Truth In Songwriting:
“On the songwriting side, it was to always be honest. Whether it’s being sassy and off the cuff, it’s to be honest. To make people feel like they’ve been moved in a direction has really been what I’ve been going for. The other thing that I really wanted to do was to make sure that I could make an album that would be really fun to perform live. I feel like I did that. And it’s totally exhausting!”

On The 'Giddy On Up' Video:
“I wanna make people laugh. And also make them wanna get up and dance. It’s kinda tongue-in-cheek!”

On Songwriting Philosophy:
“I wrote every song but one song on the album. I have a philosophy about singing songs that you don’t write. I think that when you feel like you don’t ever want to let anybody else sing that song, that you identify with that song, that’s when you gotta sing it.”

I'm No Good (For Ya Baby)
Making a dramatic entrance via a wooden staircase, Laura Bell Bundy shows that you can take the girl out of the theatre, but you can’t take the theatre out of the girl. Dancing to one of the catchiest numbers from ‘Achin’ and Shakin’, Laura warns: “You can wait for me to change, but you’ll be waitin’ a long time…”

Giddy On Up
The debut single from ‘Achin’ and Shakin’ is a song inspired by a real Laura Bell Bundy happening. Explains the singer: “I actually had an idea that was inspired by seeing a really cute couple on the street in New York. The back of the guy’s head looked like my boyfriend at the time. I was like, “Wouldn’t that be awful if…” That’s how I got the idea for ‘Giddy On Up!’”

Drop On By
This tender ballad holds extra special meaning to Laura. Explains the singer: “The one song on my album [that I didn't write] was something that I had been trying to say and couldn’t quite figure it out. I just fell in love with it, and I couldn’t let anybody else sing it.”

Everybody
Laura has said that she wanted ‘Achin’ and Shakin’ to summon the retro spirit of old soul country. Featuring horns, a fiddle, and a tap dancing finale, ‘Everybody’ succeeds in taking a trip down musical memory lane. Sings Laura: “Everybody needs somebody / Everybody needs someone they can love and believe in…”

Proud Mary
Concluding her set with a dramatic costume change and a cover of one of the greatest songs of all time, Laura summons her inner soul mama. Written by American legend John Fogerty, ‘Proud Mary’ is Laura’s set highlight: a spectacular song and dance number that proves Laura’s vocal versatility.
