About The Artist

The Set List

This is the age when you kinda figure out who you are. I had to do it on national television -- in front of 30 million people!

American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina sits down with Walmart Soundcheck to discuss her exciting new life -- and her impressive post-Idol career (her debut album entered the charts in the top five and is breaking records). Plus, live from Memphis, Tennessee: the “Georgia Peach” performs exclusive new tunes from her debut album, 'Wildflower.' Check out our set with Lauren - and go pick up a copy of ‘Wildflower’ online and in Walmart stores nationwide.

-The Crew at Walmart Soundcheck

On Stardom:
"I like to be the center of attention. I'll always like to sing for people or be in front of a crowd. I tried out for American Idol and that's all I do now -- sing in front of people. I get to live out my dream every single day of my life."

On Comin' To California:
“My mom's from the same small town that I'm from: Rossville, Georgia. We pack up our little zebra suitcases and wefly out to California to live there for six months. We know nothing about the area. Their Walmart holds more people than my town does. It was a big difference. We'd go to the mall and see the population of our town. I would have lost my mind without her; I almost lost it with her there. She's my best friend. We literally do everything together."

On Embracing Her Fans:
"I knew I probably had a few [fans], but I had a lot more than I even thought. I love when I get to meet all the little older ladies. They're so cute and they just pinch my cheek. I just love it!"

On Growing Up In Front Of America:
"I tried out [for American Idol] when I was 15 and I turned 16 on the show. Now I'm 17. This is the age when you kinda figure out who you are and you're starting to see the things that you like and you don't like. I had to do it on national television in front of 30 million people!"

On Growing Up:
"I've changed dramatically as far as the way I think about things. Things that I thought were important two years ago aren't as important now."

Did You Know?

• She’s a real life "Georgia Peach." Lauren Alaina was born and raised in Rossville, Georgia.

• She found overnight fame on 'American Idol.' Lauren was the runner-up on the tenth season of 'American Idol.' The show finale (where Lauren squared off against winner Scotty McCreery) scored a record-breaking 122.4 million votes.

• She's been singing and performing since she was a child. At age eight, she entered (and won) the talent competition of the Southern Stars pageant. At age 12, she was taking regular trips to Nashville to perform on stage.

• Her debut album is breaking chart records. 'Wildflower' entered the US Billboard 200 chart at number five -- the youngest female artist to achieve such a feat in 15 years.

• ‘Wildflower’ is in stores now! Pick up a copy of the record online and in Walmart stores nationwide.
Georgia Peaches
Explains Lauren: "People get to see this different side of me. I love to sing 'Georgia Peaches' live just because it's in your face and I get to dance and show off my spitfire attitude! People are starting to know my songs and I can see 'em singing the words and it's such a great feeling!

Like My Mother Does
It's clear that the first single from her debut album carries an important message for Lauren. Explains the 17 year-old singer: "It means a lot to me, probably more than any of the other songs on the album. It was my finale song and it's about my mama. My mother literally gave up her whole life for me for six months."

Tupelo
It’s easy to believe that the 17 year-old has been singing since she was three years old (her first pitch-perfect performance was a car radio rendition of the Dixie Chicks' 'When You Were Mine'). 'Tupelo,' from her new album 'Wildflower,' captures young love and life on the road. Sings Lauren: "Love struck right on the money / Heartbeats abeating to the radio.”

Funny Thing About Love
Lauren's debut album even showcases the singer's writing talents (she wrote her first song, 'She's A Miracle,' at the tender age of nine). Co-written with Brett James and Luke Laird, 'Funny Thing About Love' is a tongue-in-cheek look at love. Sings the Georgia Peach: "The funny thing about love / It never makes sense / It just keeps messing you up!"

Dirt Road Prayer
Lauren Alaina wraps up her Walmart Soundcheck set with the closing track from 'Wildflower.’ Accompanied by her band, Lauren delivers a tear jerker: Dirt Road Prayer. Sings Lauren: "And so I go where the green grass grows / The weeds are high and the sung hangs low / Look to the sky and I say hello."
