About The Artist

The Set List

Call Lee Ann Womack crazy – for all the right reasons. Her stunning new record, ‘Call Me Crazy,’ trips back to a braver time when country music sang big tunes about troubled times and hard livin’ love. The Texan songbird tells Soundcheck that she’s crazy proud of her latest disc (and to prove it, she performs five cuts from the new record, including the show-stopper hit single, ‘Last Call’). Check out our exclusive set with Lee Ann and go pick up a copy of her new album ‘Call Me Crazy’, online and in Walmart stores nationwide!

-The Crew at Walmart Soundcheck

On Her Last Call:
“When I first heard the demo for the song ‘Last Call’ I thought this could sound like a classic record for me. Something that immediately people would recognize as a record that just sounded like something I would do. It just has that in the bars, smoky country music vibe. I’m really proud when I hear it on the radio - considering how country it is!”

On Twin Fiddles And Steel Guitars:
“I just wanted to make a record that held on to and showcased the traditions of country music and – at the same time – was palatable for today’s market. I got to work with Tony Brown on this record and he is a legend in this town. I’ve always wanted to record stuff with him. I’ve done some very pop things and some very hard-core traditional country stuff. That’s my favorite. It would break my heart to see that go away. Nothing excites me more than a young person who loves twin fiddles and steel guitars. I’m looking for those people.”

On Hard Core Fans:
“We’ll be on the road playing next year. I really have missed – over the past three years – getting to see these country music fans. The people who come out to see me really love the really hard-core stuff! I’m really looking forward to seeing them face to face, playing the music and getting their reactions! I can’t wait to see ‘em.”

Last Call
Lee Ann begins her Soundcheck set with the smash hit first single from 'Call Me Crazy'. Written by Erin Enderlin and Shane McAnally, 'Last Call' is an instant classic – a tear-jerker tune about lovin' a hard livin' man. Like the liquor-soaked relationship she describes, 'Last Call' ends with a shot of hard-won truth: "I bet you're in a bar. "Cuz I'm always your last call... But baby I won't be there... to catch you when you fall."

The Bees
Written by Natalie Hemby and Daniel Tashian, ‘The Bees’ is another ‘Call Me Crazy’ cut that sounds like classic ‘70's country. (Check out the album version for one of the disc’s celebrity guest appearances – Keith Urban on backup vocals.) Sings Lee Ann: “I can hear the bees buzzing through the walls making their honey and singing their song. See, I work for the queen all day. I work for the queen all day.”

Solitary Thinkin’
“I only came into this bar to hear a sad song but I’ll probably be here all night long,” sings Lee Ann in this woe-is-me tribute to lonely, late night reflection. Written by Waylon Payne, ‘Solitary Thinkin’ embodies the spirit of sad country torch songs. It also showcases Lee Ann’s talent for telling a masterful story without succumbing to overt sentiment.

Either Way
Many of the traditional tracks on ‘Call Me Crazy’ continue where Lee Ann’s last album, (2005’s ‘There’s More Where That Came From’) left off. Written by Chris Stapleton, Kendall Marvel and Tim James, ‘Either Way’ features a soaring chorus, heartbreaking lyrics and Lee Ann’s quintessential country spirit: Cautions the singer: “Baby you can go or you can stay. I won’t love you either way.”

I Found It In You
‘Call Me Crazy’ was produced by Tony Brown, the same man responsible for some of Vince Gill and Reba McEntire’s finest recordings. ‘I Found It In You’ travels to more contemporary sounding terrain with clever lyrics about finding life inspiration from true love. Sings Lee Ann: “Some find it in living off the land. Some find it in working for the man. Baby, that’s not me. I found it in you.”

I May Hate Myself In The Morning
Lee Ann ends her set quietly with a stunning show stopper from her 2005 album, 'There's More Where That Came From'. Written by Odie Blackmon, 'I May Hate Myself In The Morning' is an old fashioned ballad about succumbing to temptation with a flame from the past. Sings Lee Ann: "I may hate myself in the morning but I'm gonna love you tonight."
