On Growin’ Up Country:
“I was never really allowed to listen to anything but country music as a kid. It was just what I grew up listening to.”
On His Rising Star:
“Headlining the CMT tour this fall is a big time deal for me. To cross over and to start branching out and headlining is something that you move to town and dream of and you aspire to do. Fans can expect that I’m gonna pour my heart and soul into each and every night!”
On The Thrill Of Playing Live:
“You go out there and you feel like you did your best. There’s nothing like that feeling.”
On His Biggest Influences:
“One of my best friends in the world: Jason Aldean. When I toured with him last year I was inspired. I’ve gotten to hear some of Eric Church’s music that’s coming out. I’m really inspired by what he does.”
On The Fans:
“Nobody appreciates what they allow me to do more than me. I still cannot believe this stuff is happening to me and that I’m this fortunate and wake up every day getting to really do this. Your fans are the end all and they will always be.”

Rain Is A Good Thing
There’s no better way to kick off your Walmart Soundcheck set than with your first number one hit. Co-written with Dallas Davidson, Luke opens with a musical homage to rain and good times. Sings the Georgia native: “Where I come from / Rain is a good thing!”
Do I
Little known fact: The first single from Luke’s second studio album, ‘Doin’ My Thing,’ was co-written with members of Lady Antebellum (with lead singer Hillary Scott providing background vocals). 'Do I' finds the singer looking back at a once-simple relationship: "There was a time when our lives ran wild and free / But now I'm second guessing everything I see."
Someone Else Calling You Baby
Luke’s second number one hit didn’t just shoot to the top of the charts, it earned him serious respect from country's tough critics. Co-written and produced with Jeff Stevens, ‘Someone Else Calling You Baby’ is the (lucky) third single from Luke's gold-certified album, 'Doin' My Thing.'
Drunk On You
It's time for another new track from ‘Tailgates & Tanlines,’ but don’t let the song title mislead your ears. ‘Drunk On You’ is an infectious tune about intoxicating love. Sings Luke: “Girl, you make my speakers go boom boom / Dancing on the tailgate in the full moon...”
Too Damn Young
Many fans were surprised by the inclusion of this cover on 'Tailgates & Tanlines' (‘Too Damn Young’ was originally performed by Julie Roberts on her 2006 album, ‘Men & Mascara'). Not surprisingly, Luke manages to make the song his own: “With her in my arms, it finally made sense / In the moonlight I saw her tanlines.”
Country Girl
Closing with his current smash hit, Luke leaves us feelin’ good. The singer tells Walmart Soundcheck that he had no idea 'Country Girl' would be such a hit. Explains Luke: “We certainly didn’t think that we were going to change people’s lives with it! But we knew that people were going to jump out of their seat and rush down to the stage and have a blast!”
