About The Artist

The Set List

Mandy Moore wants you to meet… Amanda Leigh. The 25 year-old singer/songwriter shows Soundcheck her true musical personality at a taping celebrating the brand new album, ‘Amanda Leigh.’ While the title reflects Mandy’s real name, it also showcases her bravest, most intimate project to date. Check out our audience with Mandy - and go pick up a copy of her excellent new album, ‘Amanda Leigh’ online and in Walmart stores nationwide. -The Crew at Walmart Soundcheck On Finding Amanda Leigh: “It’s my name, my legal name. It felt fitting for this collection of music because it felt like the most significant work that I’ve been a part of creating. I wrote the whole record with my friend Mike Viola who also produced it. I feel like it’s a very contained collection of music. They were all written in a two or three month period of time; we went right into the studio to make the album. It feels like this lovely little time capsule. I am most proud of this record. I am more proud of anything that I have ever been involved with.” On Basement Tracks: “The recording process was something different that I had never experienced before making a record. We went to our friend’s house in the suburbs of Boston and recorded in his basement. He’s a fabulous engineer and someone we wanted to work with. He has a great studio in his house. He’s made so many records in his own home that he knows how to get the best sounds.” On Creative Collaboration: “It was by far the best time I’ve ever had making music and making an album. The recording process was something different; it’s the only way I want to make music from now on. I feel lucky that I’m surrounded by such talented people. It really brings the record to life in a way that I almost never imagined before. I couldn’t obviously have done it without the support and love from folks out there. I’m just appreciative that I keep getting the opportunity to do what I love and that people are still interested.”

Did You Know? • She’s an Aries. Amanda Leigh Moore was born April 10, 1984. • Though music remains her true passion, she’s an accomplished actress. Moore has starred in a number of Hollywood movies, including ‘A Walk To Remember,’ ‘Saved!,’ and ‘American Dreamz.’ • She’s been busy in the music business for more than a decade. In 1999, 19 year-old Mandy Moore toured with The Backstreet Boys in support of her debut pop album, ‘So Real.’ • She’s dated a number of high profile guys, including ‘That '70s Show’ star Wilmer Valderrama, tennis star Andy Roddick, actor Zach Braff and "DJ AM" Adam Goldstein. She is currently partnered with singer/songwriter Ryan Adams. • Her new album: ‘Amanda Leigh’ is her sixth studio album and continues in the folk/rock vein where ‘Wild Hope’ left off. Pick up a copy online and in Walmart stores nationwide!
Love To Love Me Back Amanda Leigh kicks off her reflective set with a compelling cut from the brand new disc. The first collaboration written with Mike Viola and ‘The Bird And The Bee’ singer Inara George, ‘Love To Love Me Back’ is a wistful tune about requited romance. Sings Mandy: “I don’t want to run. I want two-way conversations. I want love to love me back…” Fern Dell A stand-out from the new album is ‘Fern Dell,’ a cautionary folk tune co-written with musician and ‘Amanda Leigh’ producer, Mike Viola. The record is Mandy’s most exploratory; ‘Fern Dell’ is just one example of the disc’s intricate harmonies and lyrical ambition. Here, the singer talks about the power – and danger – of first impressions. Merrimack River The opening track to ‘Amanda Leigh’ boasts an intimate arrangement and a cryptic chorus about self realization. Here, it’s delivered in a simple, stark style that emphasizes Mandy’s impressive vocals: “Don’t say you’re not amazed when you know you are. And don’t say you’re not afraid when you know you are…” Nothing Everything The last song written for ‘Amanda Leigh’ is a heartbreaking tune about telling a partner that they deserve better. Like her last record, ‘Wild Hope,’ ‘Amanda Leigh’ draws some heady comparisons to folk giant Joni Mitchell. Sings Mandy: “Even though my heart is torn… I only want the best for you…” I Could Break Your Heart Any Day Of The Week The first single from ‘Amanda Leigh’ is also the record’s most upbeat number. Playful and catchy, ‘I Could Break Your Heart’ is a classic, comedic ode to the ultimate romantic revenge. Sings Mandy: “I’ll make this painless, try to be sweet. I could break your heart any day of the week…”
