About The Artist

The Set List

"Tonight will be the first time we play any new material in front of our fans!” That’s Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine to Soundcheck - moments before taking to the Chicago stage to perform tracks from their new "Mutt" Lange-produced album, ‘Hands All Over.’ Wanna witness music history with the L.A. rockers? Check out our exclusive Windy City performance and interview with Maroon 5 - and go pick up a copy of ‘Hands All Over’ online and in Walmart stores nationwide! -The Crew at Walmart Soundcheck On Meeting Mutt: Adam: “Mutt Lang is an amazing producer, an amazing guy. He wanted to do our record; we said yes because he’s such a legendary man. We thought it would be a good combo. We went to Switzerland to make a record with him and it was really amazing. It was so beautiful, so inspiring, and we were totally un-distracted by every other thing imaginable. There are a lot of distractions in Los Angeles. It was nice to be away.” Mickey: "We were surprised when Mutt contacted us, just because he works very rarely - and also just his stature as a producer. We were a little bit taken aback! A lot of that impression sort of dissipates as soon as you meet him just because he's such a low key, down-to-earth guy. He instantly made us feel comfortable but at the same time really pushed us." On The Fans: Adam: “We’d like to thank our fans. Without them we’d be nowhere. Even before all the cameras and TV and radio, it was the fans. The fans are what demanded everyone else’s attention as far as the media is concerned. Before we had any of this we really had them; they came first and we love them. You know who you are!” Mickey: “We also recognize that we owe them as well. We owe them a great show.” On Their New Record: Mickey: "It's also a pretty diverse record as far as the styles it traverses. We have pretty broad tastes as well. I think this record is probably more diverse from song to song than either of our previous two records." Adam: "There's nothing we didn't try! It's kind of an ego-less pursuit. We want to make it the best it can be."

Did You Know? • Maroon 5 is: Adam Levine (lead vocals, guitar), James Valentine (guitar), Jesse Carmichael (keys), Mickey Madden (bass), and drummer Matt Flynn. • They’re from L.A. Adam, Jesse, and Mickey began playing music together while in high school. In 1994 they formed the band, ‘Kara’s Flowers,' which eventually became 'Maroon 5.' • They’ve taken home three Grammy awards. Maroon 5 picked up their first Grammy in 2005 as ‘Best New Artist.’ • The’ve sold more than 15 million albums worldwide. The band’s releases have gone gold and platinum in over 35 countries around the world. • Their new album, 'Hands All Over' is in stores September 21st. Pick up a copy of the record online and in Walmart stores nationwide.
Misery Frontman Adam Levine on the band’s new single: “It’s most representative of who we actually are. It’s a good foot to start on. It kind of roped people back in. Look, see, this is us. Then we can go in whatever direction we want to go in…” Wake Up Call Breaking out another tune from their 2007 album, ‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long,’ Maroon 5 gives our Windy City audience more of what they want. ‘Wake Up Call’ isn’t just a song about a break-up, it’s a tune of single-minded survival. Sings Adam: “If you needed love, well, then ask for love / Could’ve given love / Now I’m taking love.” Give A Little More Adam discusses 'Give A Little More,' from the band's new album: “It’s really exciting. We played it today in soundcheck, and I got really excited about having there be people there to play it for. We’ve only practiced it with each other; we haven’t seen anyone react to it. I’m very curious about that!” She Will Be Loved In front of our Chicago audience, Maroon 5 breaks out a stripped-down acoustic version of the hit that made them famous. Today’s version of ‘She Will Be Loved’ injects new life into the original song. Alongside the accompaniment of a simple guitar, Adam closes with the bittersweet line: “Please don’t try so hard to say goodbye…” Sunday Morning "If you know this one, please do not hesitate to sing along! Filling the room with music is a good thing!" So says Adam to the Soundcheck crowd as he delves into a track from the band's debut album, ‘Songs About Jane.' Little known fact: Adam wrote most of the lyrics to that album while he was working as a writer's assistant on a television show called 'Judging Amy.' This Love Closing with their signature hit, 'This Love' (a song that the band has admitted was influenced by Stevie Wonder), Maroon 5 draws thunderous applause from the crowd. If tonight's audience reaction is any indication of the band's new album, 'Hands All Over,' Maroon 5 have another hit on their hands. Makes Me Wonder* The first single from the band’s second album (‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long’) holds up as one of the band’s strongest songs. Although Adam has hinted that the song’s lyrics have a political leaning, ‘Makes Me Wonder’ also takes an introspective look at broken love. Sings Adam: “I don’t believe in you anymore / I wonder if it even makes a difference to try.” *Sign-up for your all access pass to see this bonus material.
