Some Samples From Our Q&A:
On Musical Influences:
"I have weird tastes in music; I listen to all kinds of different things. At first I didn't like country music but as I get older I'm starting to like it more and more and respect it. I definitely listen to pop music and some rock and roll. I listen to all different kinds of genres. I think that's the best way to be rather than just having one thing you listen to. I really like people like Alicia Keyes who can play instruments. I love her piano - that's what I want to learn to do. She's one person I look up to; her voice is amazing."
On Home And Away:
"I have different homes. Sometimes I even live on a bus - where I wake up on a bus and have no idea where I am. It sounds kind of lame but home is really is where your family is. That's where I would call home. Right now we're in Nashville and I'm here shooting my movie and that feels good; It feels good to be where I grew up. I also miss LA, which is where I'm used to being too. And I grew up a little bit in Canada. All different kinds of places; I've moved around for sure but I think it's just wherever your family is, wherever you feel safe."
On Acting Vs. Singing:
"I couldn't really choose. It's weird when you go from being on a tour where all I did was sing, sing and do my concerts€¦ and then shooting my movie which is acting 24/7. It is hard to go back and forth. When I'm acting I start to miss my singing career and when I'm singing I start to miss acting. I couldn't really choose which one is my favorite; both of them go hand in hand and when I'm not focused on both of those at the same time it totally throws me off. I always like to be doing both."
On Fame & Glamour:
"Of course, I get to live my dream and I'm blessed and excited that I get to do that€¦ but other than the obvious, I like the clothes a lot. I like all the wardrobe; it's fun to go and be glamorous for a little while because I'm usually a tee shirt and jeans-type girl. If it's the Oscars or whatever, I get to dress up and put on my dress and get my make-up and my hair done. I just think it's so fun; that's definitely my favorite part!"
On Breaking Out:
"I called my new record 'Breakout' because that's one of my favorite songs on the record. It's very girly but it can go either way - moms, dads, sisters, brothers, anyone can be into it. Basically, sometimes you just want to go and out have fun with your friends, go out dancing and let loose. Also, this is my first solo Miley record. It's my breakout record where I'm going to show everyone what Miley Cyrus is all about. Here it's getting to know me a little bit deeper and know more about my life - more than just what is on the surface. It's more than just a biography like my last one - it's more about getting in to the story and what inspires me. I think that's a good way for me to get closer to my fans as well."
On School Vs. Showbiz:
"It's kind of hard sometimes because we'll have to run in and do a quick twenty-minute school section and then go out and be funny on the show and be crazy and do silly stunts - and then run out and do another half hour of school. To finally get focused, which for me takes a little while, it's hard. It's easier for me when I'm on tour and I have three hours in the morning and I get it all out of the way. It's hard finding time. The only good thing about home schooling is there's no homework!"
On The Importance Of Family:
"Someone who has helped me a lot is my mom. She's with me 24/7 and more than just being there for me in a mother way, which is the best. She's been like my best friend. That doesn't mean we don't fight and we don't go through arguments but I know that I can tell her stuff. Sometimes when I feel like I can't tell her everything, she can find a way because she can sense it because she loves me so much. She can tell me, "What's going on?" and really sit down and have me open up and I think that feels so good. More than anyone else in your life you know that she's only there to love you. It's really helped me."
