On His Brainstorm:
“I get to change my style a bit more. I’ve got a lot more creative control now. It’s very cool. We have all live instruments at all times, always. I think it adds to the whole dance element. I know it’s a hit song if you dance through the whole song! And that’s what I really wanted in the music.”
On Making Videos:
“It’s an eight-song album and we shot eight music videos in four days. Honestly, I loved it! The last scene we were shooting was the biggest party scene. Everyone was so tired at the end of that but there was something about it - how we used the same director, the same production team, the same editors throughout every single music video. Nothing changed. It’s almost like a mini series; it’s like a movie, a little short film.”
On Music Before Lyrics:
“I have to hear the music to visualize the whole song and what it’s actually about. I start with the track; I start with the production. Once we get something we like, the sound that we want, then we go into the lyrics and what the song’s about.”
On Sadness & Strength:
“It’s all about you and loving yourself before you love anybody else. I’ve had such trouble with that my entire life. I’ve been in the deepest sadness for nothing, nothing that I can control. Why do I make myself feel bad about these things? Hopefully I can reach out to a few people and help them if they’re going through something...”
On His Texan Fans:
“I can’t be there all the time because I gotta go out and do the big things to be able to come home and do what I love to do. I hope that you all understand it because [Texas] is my home town… and I love you!”

Get Away
Launching into the opening track from ‘Brainstorm,’ Mitchel Musso gives the screaming fans exactly what they want. ‘Get Away’ is a high-energy dance tune about breaking away from a small town and chasing the bigger life. Sings Mitchel: “This could be our only change / We should take it…”
Got Your Heart
Explains Mitchel: “A lot of people here tonight are on my album. My lead guitarist Jon Ketchum helped me write ‘Got Your Heart,’ which is my second song on my album. I keep everybody around! If I’ve worked with you I keep it a team, a crew!”
Celebrate
Though its title suggests a dancefloor anthem, ‘Celebration’ is one of the slower tunes from today’s set. But we're just getting started! The third song from ‘Brainstorm’ is the perfect track to get the party moving: “I see you and me / Cruisin' down the freeway in my AMG."
You Got Me Hooked
Just before launching into ‘You Got Me Hooked,’ Mitchel asks the Soundcheck audience a question that drives the crowd wild: “How many girls are in the audience tonight?!” Judging by the screams in the room, plenty. Mitch's response: “Perfect!”
Come Back My Love
It's time for another excellent track from 'Brainstorm,' one that holds a special place for its performer. Explains Mitchel: “Being an actor I kind of create stories in my own mind. It’s a little bit more exciting. ‘Come Back My Love’ is completely that - that song really tells my whole story.”
Open The Door
Mitchel closes his set with ‘Open The Door,’ the eighth (and final) track on his sophomore album, ‘Brainstorm.’ It’s also the track that elicits the biggest screams from his Soundcheck fans. Sings Mitchel: “Open the door / It’s cold all alone / I could freeze like the time / Would you care? / I bet you won’t…”
