Soundcheck is an original performance series created by the Wal-Mart Music team, giving you the opportunity to go behind the scenes and get an in-studio look at some of your favorite artists. Soundcheck plays right here on Walmart.com, or, for the full high definition experience, visit any Walmart store and head to the Electronics department to watch it on the Walmart TV Network.
We'll be adding new performances on a regular basis throughout the year, so please check back regularly at Walmart.com/soundcheck for more information.
We'll have artists from all genres; some old, some new, some huge, some more emerging - but all will be presented in the same intimate studio environment. So be on the lookout!

Once the performances launch, you can play it anytime you want, 24 hours a day. We'll keep all artists up on the site under "The Performances" tab.
We recommend broadband DSL or Cable to anyone who wants to truly enjoy video and audio on the Internet. However, we have made available a smaller dial-up version so you don't miss out.

About The Artist
The Set List
The set started out with the yet-to-be-released "Sign Me Up," an up-tempo, multi-layered R&B track that drew a direct line back to his Las Vegas roots with a big show feel. The song even hinted at a new R&B style unfolding, one that uses traditional elements of R&B that comfort the listener mixed with a touch of Andre 3000-type eccentricity and an ability to push the boundaries of the creative norm.
As the set moved forward, Ne-Yo's stripped down version of his hit single "So Sick" featured him solo on vocals. Overheard from some veterans in the room: "Hey, this kid reminds me of a young Donny Hathaway - this is unbelievable stuff!" More unbelievable yet was the next track. Ne-Yo told us to "Cut everything but my mic" and proceeded to record a one-mic a capella version of his song, "Time." As he finished, everyone in the room sat in stunned silence just before erupting into applause - an amazing and memorable day to say the least.
It's always tenuous to compare someone so young (23) to one of the all-time greats, but to hear Ne-Yo perform and speak, such comparisons are not without merit. His limitless potential and passion for what he does was best summed up when he told us during the interview, "This album is about the love of music and the creative process. It's about doing music from the heart... This is my fun, my love." Spoken like a true R&B veteran.
