On Gran City Pop:
“The inspiration? My main cities: Mexico City, Miami, and Madrid, Spain. This is my second album recorded at my own studio inside my house. The recording process was really relaxing; we have an ocean view with twenty palm trees, sailing boats passing through. It’s really relaxing and really organic. I really enjoyed it.”
On Writing Vs. Performing:
“When you’re composing, it’s like worship. You’re transmitting your feelings. When you’re live, when you’re in a concert at a stadium, it’s rock ‘n’ roll. It’s totally different when you’re putting your feelings on paper.”
On Inspiration:
“My inspirations are the Beatles, Freddy Mercury, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, Agustin Lara. Most of my inspirations are from rock stars. I think I have a rock star inside me. My energy is very spontaneous.”
On Latin Love:
“I would love to perform in Australia. I’ve never been. Hopefully we’ll go with this album. I’m going to do 35 concerts in America... and then I’m going to Europe. They love my concerts everywhere. Because everybody has a Latina inside. It all depends on the hour... but everybody has a Latina inside!”

Causa Y Efecto
The first single from her new disc, ‘Gran City Pop’ begins quietly before breaking into a bewitching chorus. ‘Causa Y Efecto’ (‘Cause And Effect’) is a rocking kiss-off that doesn’t mince words. Sings Paulina: “Piensas que ni en sueños lograré vivir sin ti / Te lo aviso no funciona así.” (“You think that even in my dreams I can’t live without you / I’m telling you things don’t work that way.”)
Lo Hare Por Ti
Breaking out a big rock anthem from her 2000 self-titled disc, Paulina displays her trademark style: big choruses and throaty vocals. ‘Lo Hare Por Ti’ is also a tune with a popular Rubio theme: Amor. Sings the superstar: “Y cuando te beso / siento que disparas / en medio de mi alma.” (“And when you kiss me / I feel like you shoot / in the middle of my heart.”)
Ni Rosas Ni Juguetes
Buried in a set of greatest hits is this brand new pearl from Paulina’s latest album, ‘Gran City Pop.’ ‘Ni Rosas Ni Juguetes’ (‘Not Flowers Not Toys’) is a throwback to old school balladry and a powerful statement about money and love.
Ni Una Sola Palabra
Closing her set with the first single from her 2006 album, ‘Ananda,’ Paulina shows why she’s one of Latin America’s most enduring superstars. Paulina has said in past interviews that ‘Ni Una Sola Palabra’ (‘Not A Single Word’) is a personal favorite. Here, it echoes the singer’s Soundcheck performance: passionate and powerful
Todo Mi Amor
It’s time for a track from Paulina’s first English-language album, ‘Border Girl.’ Recorded in 2001, the singer’s sixth solo studio album featured a number of English and Spanish tracks written by the likes of Richard Marx and Desmond Child. This single, ‘Todo Mi Amor’ (‘The One You Love’) was co-written by country songwriter Brett James (who also penned Carrie Underwood’s hit, ‘Jesus, Take The Wheel.’)
Yo No Soy Esa Mujer
Clearly one of Paulina’s favorite tracks to perform, ‘Yo No Soy Esa Mujer’ is also one of her most powerful pop moments. From the 2000 album, ‘Paulina,’ ‘Yo No Soy Esa Mujer’ (‘I Am Not That Woman’) is an anthem about female empowerment. Sings Paulina: “Yo no soy esa mujer, esa niña perdida / La que firma un papel y te entrega su vida.” (“I’m not that woman, that lost little girl / who signs a paper and gives up her life.”)
