Soundcheck is an original performance series created by the Wal-Mart Music team, giving you the opportunity to go behind the scenes and get an in-studio look at some of your favorite artists. Soundcheck plays right here on Walmart.com, or, for the full high definition experience, visit any Walmart store and head to the Electronics department to watch it on the Walmart TV Network.

On Early Influences:
“I remember it dawning on me whenever I saw my daddy playing with other musicians that all those people were making different sounds and it was coming out of these speakers as one sound. I was probably three years old and it was a transforming experience for me.”
On Creating Music:
“I had spent twelve, thirteen years in Mississippi playing cover bands and learning how to work a crowd. But I was dead set on not playing in another cover band in Nashville. If anyone was going to know who I was in this town, I wanted them to be hearing music that I was part of creating.”
On First TV Gig:
“Before I even had a Top 40 song, I had my first single ‘Anything Goes’. I got the call that David Letterman wanted me to come on his show cause he really loved that song. Nobody knew who I was, so that was a huge moment.”
On Family Life:
“My personal life is so different now; I think that I’m a much happier person. I have a family now so I think that’s reflected in the music. It’s definitely different than the other two albums and I think it’ll be evident when you hear the record.”
On What's Next:
“We’re gonna do some dates with Miranda (Lambert) and Dierks (Bentley) and gonna be playing a lot of fairs, festivals, clubs, theaters…meanwhile, I’ll be writing and trying to make a new record.”
• Randy Houser’s new album was produced with good friend, Derek George—whom he told early on in his career that if he ever had success, he would have Derek produce an album.
• His father was a professional musician who performed at many local venues.
• Houser formed a band named 10LB Biscuit while attending college in Mississippi which was well-received locally.
• He married singer-songwriter Jessa Lee Yantz, and together they have a son named West Yantz Houser.
• Randy Houser’s third album, ‘How Country Feels’ is in stores now! Pick up your copy of the record online and in Walmart stores nationwide.
The chart-topping single is now No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs. Houser commented, “The first single has done very well and I couldn’t think of a better way to describe the album.”
Runnin' Outta Moonlight
This carefree upbeat track ‘Runnin Outta Moonlight’, will be the next single to be released—highlighting Houser’s powerful voice.
Like a Cowboy
He discusses his inspiration behind the song, “I wrote this song while I was thinking about my home life and how much I’m not there, and trying to make the best of every moment I could when I was home.”
Growin' Younger
Houser delivers a nostalgic feel good gem about getting better over time, and attributes it to now having a son.
Boots On
‘Boots On’ is Houser’s hit single from the previous record, ‘Anything Goes’. Heavy with rural pride he sings, “Hot headed women, cold beer/ Kick up my heels for a little while/ And do it country style.”
The Singer
Houser’s versatility shines in this sincere, classic country track with lyrics like, “She loved the dreamer/ The way the lights would hit his eyes and shine just like a record made of gold.”
