Soundcheck is an original performance series created by the Wal-Mart Music team, giving you the opportunity to go behind the scenes and get an in-studio look at some of your favorite artists. Soundcheck plays right here on Walmart.com, or, for the full high definition experience, visit any Walmart store and head to the Electronics department to watch it on the Walmart TV Network.
We'll be adding new performances on a regular basis throughout the year, so please check back regularly at Walmart.com/soundcheck for more information.
We'll have artists from all genres; some old, some new, some huge, some more emerging - but all will be presented in the same intimate studio environment. So be on the lookout!

We're catching up with the guys in sunny Los Angeles during a hectic time; they've just completed recording their self-titled third disc and are prepping for an upcoming world tour in support of the accomplished new record. Fresh from previewing their new album to rapturous Canadian fans, Simple Plan take to the stage and give us a performance to remember. Their new album lands in Wal-Mart stores this month -- go pick up a copy and enjoy the exclusive Soundcheck set.

On the New Album:
As the band gear up for the release of their self-titled third release, we asked the guys about their eight-year musical journey. Explains Pierre: "The new album definitely has a different direction ... I think you can still tell it's Simple Plan. We're still the same band; there's definitely some elements that are similar, but there's some freshness and some different sounds that we've used. We've collaborated with different people and meshed in together some different styles and sounds. An evolution."
On Bringing the Rock:
Simple Plan may have teamed up with some cutting-edge pop producers for the new record, but make no mistake - they're still a rock band. How did they maintain their trademark sound? Explains lead guitarist Jeff Stinco: "Working with Dave Fortman was great." Chuck interrupts: "He brought the rock!" Continues Jeff: "It was cool to have someone oversee the project and really understand where we were coming from. We really wanted a rock record, and we also wanted to integrate new elements like electronica in a very organic way. I think he really understood that."
On Rock 'n' Roll ... 'n' Luck:
It's humbling to meet a rock 'n' roll band who count their blessings. Simple Plan know that their rise to success is as much attributable to their talent as it is good old-fashioned luck. Explains Chuck: "Lots of bands have a lot of talent, and they'll never get to the spot where we're at. We realize how lucky we are and we realize how blessed we are." Pierre continues: "We've been together eight years now, we've had a lot of fights ... (but) we're the kind of band who knows that those kind of things are not going to break us up. We're gonna keep making music. We love doing it."
- They're French Canadian. Simple Plan hail from Montreal, Quebec and formed in 1995. Most of the guys are longtime high school friends.
- They've won countless awards in their homeland. The band picked up Favorite Canadian Band in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 at Canada's prestigious MuchMusic Video Awards.
- They're named after the 1998 Bridget Fonda / Bill Paxton movie, 'A Simple Plan'
- They are Jeff Stinco (lead guitar), Chuck Comeau (drums, vocals), Pierre Bouvier (lead vocals, guitar), Sebastien Lefebvre (rhythm guitar, vocals) and David Desrosiers (bass, vocals)
- They're involved in a number of worthy causes. They recently began their own organization: 'The Simple Plan Foundation,' a charity dedicated to issues surrounding teens, including poverty and substance abuse.
- They're role models and fashion icons. Lead singer Pierre Bouvier owns his own designer clothing line: 'Role Model Clothing.'
With no time to waste, Simple Plan immediately launch into a brand new track from their upcoming self-titled third album. 'Generation' is a signature Simple Plan tune with a contagious chorus and fitting Generation X lyrics: "I got no reason to apologize / That's my generation!" Hardcore fans will know this track as the tune that the band recently tweaked; the album release was delayed to fine-tune this song's content. It works -- expect 'Generation' to be a smash hit.
Your Love Is A Lie
It's clear from the set list that Simple Plan is excited about the new album. 'Your Love Is A Lie' is yet another newbie that showcases the band's accessible sound. Produced by Dave Fortman (Evanescence), Max Martin (Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys) and Timbaland's protégé, Danja, Simple Plan's new record is their most radio-friendly concoction to date. Sings lead singer Pierre Bouvier: "You could tell me that there's nobody else, but I feel it. You could look into my eyes and pretend all you want / but I know that your love is just a lie."
Perfect
The fourth single from their debut album, 'Perfect' is perhaps the band's best-known tune. A stripped-down, affecting plea to a difficult parent, 'Perfect' is an example of Simple Plan's powerful songwriting. Here, Pierre delivers an intimate vocal rendition that's as strong as it is plaintive: "Hey Dad, look at me. Think back and talk to me. Did I grow up according to plan? It hurts when you disapprove all along ..."
When I'm Gone
The first single from the band's new album, 'When I'm Gone' contains a singalong chorus that allows the entire band to harmonize together - reminiscent of their earlier albums. Produced by Dave Fortman and Danja, 'When I'm Gone' is already a blockbuster radio hit - blogger Perez Hilton even stars in the video clip! "Life is what happens when you're busy making your excuses," croons lead man Bouvier: "Well so long / You'll miss me when I'm gone."
Welcome To My Life
"Do you ever feel like breaking down? Do you ever feel out of place?" Teenage angst plays a large theme in Simple Plan's song catalogue and 'Welcome To My Life' shows how the band connect to their large teenage fan base. Part Green Day, part R.E.M., 'Welcome To My Life' is a stunning tune about the rites of adolescence and understanding teen problems. Simple Plan close our Soundcheck set with a moving song that's anything but simple -- in short, a powerful moment.
