About The Artist
The Set List
Once ready, the band launched into a set that featured four tracks off their new album Nothing is Sound, including a chilling take of "Stars" equally powerful was their performance of "We Are One Tonight" and "Shadow Proves the Sunshine." Inside the studio, the vibe remained easygoing and natural throughout the day, and when the band broke into a version of their hit "Meant to Live" (from their 2004 Beautiful Letdown album), everyone in the studio realized we had something special on our hands.
One particular highlight was hearing Switchfoot bassist Tim Foreman talk about the new album during the interview portion of the show.
"For me," he said, "the new album is kind of like a scrapbook of the last couple years. Each song reminds me of a different place on the map."
A map of the planet, maybe? Switchfoot has become so successful over the past few years, yet they're still as down-to-earth as they were before their rise to stardom. Watching them, you're struck by how they personify "Southern California laid-back cool" with their love of music (and surfing, of course). To meet them though, you'd think that it was just some friends visiting from the beach.
What a pleasure it was having Switchfoot as part of our launch, and we hope to see you back here again sometime soon. In the meantime, click around and enjoy - there's lots more to enjoy backstage, right here at Soundcheck.
