About The Artist

The Set List

Some performances are sweeter the second time around. Soundcheck swings to Manhattan for a live show with Oklahoma rockers The All-American Rejects. Decked out in skin-tight, striped rocker pants, lead singer Tyson wowed what can sometimes be the a tough crowd… New Yorkers! Our exclusive encore session with the Rejects comes just in time for the launch of their brand new disc, ‘When The World Comes Down’. Check out the show and go pick up a copy of their sweet new album online and in Walmart stores nationwide!

-The Crew at Walmart Soundcheck

On Tour Love:
Tyson: "The tour’s going great. It’s been an amazing little adventure. We’re shaking off some rust down the old tour road. It’s good to be getting back in front of the people who love us not because we’re on TV right now, not because we’re on the radio right now… but because they’ve always loved us!”

On Internet Awareness:
Mike: “The interaction has been great. We’ve been playing about three or four songs a night. It’s really amazing - the power of the internet. Even though we haven’t released any new songs [the fans] know all the words.
Tyson: Yeah, they’re already singing ‘Mona Lisa,’ ‘Gives You Hell’ and…
Mike: ‘I Wanna’!

On The Big Apple:
Tyson: “New York is special, don’t you think?”
Mike: “It’s always good!”
Tyson: “We usually have a ghost in the machine in New York. The last show was great too.”
Nick: “It’s good in doses. I enjoy it for a couple of days. New York does need more Walmarts. I find it ironic that the two things we’ve done for you are in Los Angeles and New York. The two places on earth that you can’t find a Walmart!”

Did You Know?

• The All-American Rejects are: Tyson Ritter, Nick Wheeler, Mike Kennerty and Chris Gaylor.

• They’re from Stillwater, Oklahoma. Tyson Ritter and Nick Wheeler formed the pop/rock band in 2001 and Mike Kennerty and Chris Gaylor joined a year later.

• Zoolander alert! Lead vocalist Tyson Ritter is also a successful male model. The charismatic frontman most recently appeared in a Hugo Boss campaign.

• They’re all inked. Each All American Reject share the same tattoo: the AAR logo planted on each member’s right breast.

• They’re really modest! Their new album ‘When The World Comes Down’ is, according to lead singer Tyson Ritter: “The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread!”
Swing, Swing
Packed into the club-like confines of Manhattan Center Studios, our Soundcheck crowd is young, loud and restless with anticipation. New York is ready for the Rejects and the rockers don’t disappoint. Taking their places on stage (and on time), the crowd immediately begins dancing to the strains of ‘Swing, Swing’, a fan favorite. Teases Tyson: “I’ll find someone new… in New York!”

Gives You Hell
“We busted our tails on this (new record). It took us two years to do it!” Tyson introduces their third full length effort, ‘When The World Comes Down’ with this catchy first single. After kneeling down to deliver the climactic bridge, our interactive audience breaks into the chorus: “If you find a man that… treats you well. Then he’s a fool… you’re just as well.”

Mona Lisa (When The World Comes Down)
Before launching into the title track from the new disc, Tyson explains the message behind the sophisticated ballad: “It’s not sad! It’s about having someone in your life that - if it all falls away tomorrow - you have tonight to spend with that one person you love.” As guitar man Nick Wheeler strums the opening chords, the crowd quietly takes in this defining band moment.

It Ends Tonight
“New York needs a little dose of crazy every once and awhile!” teases Tyson as he introduces the band’s next new tune, ‘It Ends Tonight.’ Tonight’s rendition differs from the studio version; Tyson’s plaintive vocals deliver a stripped-down version that matches the song’s raw emotions. Despite a brief technical difficulty (that the charismatic front man plays off with his signature humor), ‘It Ends Tonight’ is a crowd-pleasing set highlight.

I Wanna
The lead-off track on the band’s new album travels in a different, slightly poppier direction than the rest of the band’s Soundcheck set. Sounding like a cross between Mick Jagger and The Monkees, Tyson gyrates and grinds to this toe-tapping dance track and - we predict - a future single. Our audience respond accordingly – the aisles are jammed with AAR fans dancing.

Move Along
Written by Nick Wheeler and Tyson Ritter, the front man delivers an emotional performance. He sings: "Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong. Move along, move along like I know you do."
